A notebook of stray thoughts from your pals Cindy Hotpoint & Pinkie Von Bloom. Because we like more than just music, you know. You can reach us at elegantfaker AT gmail DOT com. We <3 you!

(To our Tumblr followers: we read you on the feed side b/c Cindy really loathes using the Tumblr interface for reading posts.)

Pinkie here with some not-very-late-breaking, but possibly not widely known news: New York’s own Bellmer Dolls are opening for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds tomorrow night at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden and on Sunday night at the 9:30 Club in DC. Both shows are sold out, and we can’t even begin to say how proud we are to be able to tell you about it. (Actually, we’ve known for several months, but couldn’t really say anything.) In short: this is awesomeness on the scale of Shearwater touring with Coldplay earlier this year. Peter, Anthony, Daniel, we love you guys and we’re very, very proud.
While I’m monopolizing the conversation, I’ll let you in on a dirty secret. The first time I scheduled Cindy to see the Bellmers in January of 2007, she didn’t want to come. She was tired and kind of crabby because we’d already been to one other show that night, and she was still kind of morally obligated to go see another wonderfully troublesome band play a benefit nearby, but I twisted her arm. She didn’t have an opinion until the Bellmers covered Nilsson. That lackluster show was a story of conversion and how the Bellmer Dolls became our collective #1 Crush. It’s been exciting (and sometimes pretty tumultuous) to watch them get to where they’ll be tomorrow night. And of course, we’ll be there to see it with nothing but love in our hearts. This goes far beyond denmother pride.
(And we’d say “break a leg,” but knowing those guys…someone totally would.)
The Bellmer Dolls play again on Tuesday, October 7 at Mercury Lounge.
